Title: Name help
Post by: BrnCam on Saturday 07 January 12 17:42 GMT (UK)
Hello everyone and happy new year.
I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place but I'm hoping for some help in transcribing the name in the attached image. All educated guesses welcome. The only clue, it's a mans Christian name.

Regards,
Brncam

Duplicate thread started on DERRY/LONDONDERRY board 2 days ago and I'd already said Archibald as the name- to avoid anymore needless work I'm going to lock the other thread  :-\

Sorry Aghadowey,
I wanted to get a few opions and felt I wasn't getting many responses to my original post. As I had said in the original post I wasn't sure I had posted in the right place, I then came across this section. I don't know if posts can be moved?

Regards

The beginning is a bit odd .... I can make out from hibald, the letter in front of the h is too tall for a c.

Can't think of anything else similar though.  ::)

Thank you rosie99, weste and aghadowey.
My wife also thinks it could be Archibald, I'll have to start listening to her now :-[

rosie99,
I had William in my head for a long time, but as I said my wife thought it more of an Archibald when we looked at it again.

Moderators can move posts when appropriate which is preferable to having duplicate requests on different boards. It's possible there wasn't much response from the first post because it clearly looks like Archibald and people didn't have any other options to offer.

rosie99,
I had William in my head for a long time, but as I said my wife thought it more of an Archibald when we looked at it again.

The problem is that once we get a name into our heads we have trouble thinking it can be anything else.    :)   I hope you can now track down this person.

Thanks rosie99,
I think you are probably right, hopefully this can open a few possibilities as I had come to a bit of a dead end. Thanks again for your input.

Brncam

Aghadowey,
To quote my original post "I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place". If you felt I had posted this thread in the wrong place I would have been happy for you to redirect me, secondly if I wish to canvas further opinion from a wider audience surely I am entitled to do so.
I have already apologised for the inconvenience I may have caused you through my lack of experince.
Regards,
Brncam
