Flannery's of Brunswick. I am trying to put together the family of Jerimiah Flannery and Mary Ann. My grandfather, William Flannery, was their son and I believe this was a large family of boys...maybe 15 boys and one girl who died young. I would be grateful if anyone has any Flannery information. William Flannery was Born in Adelaide, SA 13/9/86 and died 20/8/67. He married Frances Elizabeth Wilson, 4/10/16 in Brunswick Victoria. Frances Elizabeth Wilson was born 1889 Brunswick Victoria and died 1971, Brunswick Victoria. I would be grateful for any information. Thanks Louise :)

Perhaps this enlitee for ww2 is a son of WILLIAM and FRANCES FLANNERY
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/veteran.asp?ServiceID=A&VeteranID=621044
As he is possibly still living, it is not permitted to publish his details on the open board.
Perhaps you should ask for this thread of yours to be moved to the AUSTRALIAN board as there may be keen helpers there to see it ;D

Thanks Sue - this was in fact the son of William and Francis Flannery, who was my father. Many thanks for looking this up. :)
-
Hi Sue
Thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for. So far, you have named 7 sons. Perhaps the others died early. I do recall a Fred Flannery as a brother too.The very first one is jno...do you think this might be John? are you also related?
-
Yes that is the death of Frances Flannery, but uncertain about the reference to Robert Wilson, my father was Ronald Wilson and he was married to Margaret....could that be the reference on the Death Certificate? thanks
-
I am sorry for not being clearer in my replies.
FRANCES' father was ROBERT WILSON and mother MARGARET --(Not known)
I have annotated the post Reply #2 to show this.
Has son Ronald perhaps been given WILSON as a second name =Ronald Wilson Flannery?
Yes, Jno usually mean JOHN or JONATHON or other variations of the name ;D

Thank you for death notice for Mary Anne. This gives a clear picture of 13 children. I haven't checked Trove newspapers, but will do so. Thanks for all assistance received... It's very exciting!
-
Louise, you might also like to check out more of the Flannerys on the website Sue suggested
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/
as there are a few more grandchildren and children of Jeremiah listed on there.
There's also at least one digital file available at http://www.naa.gov.au/ for one of Jeremiah's grandchildren.

Thank you Dee, I will have fun putting this large family together. There are quite a few Flannery's that served, but at least I now have their names, which is a great help. Thank you.

Hi Dee just in reference to the digital file in the National Archives..where would I search on that site? Sorry I just had a look but unsure where to start. Thanks

Here’s Jeremiah’s death….
Jeremiah FLANNERY aged 72 died in 1914 at Brswck N
Father = Jeremiah FLANNERY & Bridget CARROLL
Ref = 8659
But this poses a question....on his marriage he gave his father as Darby FLANNERY, but whoever was the informant at his death gave his father as Jeremiah FLANNERY.
There is an online tree at http://www.rootschat.com/links/0je8/ with some information about the Flannery family.
I don't know how accurate it is though, as they have the marriage date wrong. I haven't checked out all the other information.

Louise....
Go to the website.
Choose to Search the Collection.
Then Choose Search As a Guest
Then choose the tab Namesearch
Put in Flannery and search.
Then it's a matter of spending time browsing. If you are lucky, you'll find digital image files attached that you can open and save.
Hope that helps.

Hi Louise, I am the GRANDSON of ROBERT EDWARD FLANNERY, one of the 14-15(?) sons you mentioned (the youngest I believe). My mother was the 3rd of 6 children of Robert & Amy Flannery. I have a fair bit of current information if you need it, and some of the family history as well, but not sure what should be posted here. I think that makes your grandfather (William) my great uncle, and my grandfather (Robert) your great uncle. Contact me if I can help. Cheers!

Welcome toi Rootschat, Shippa. :)
Hopefully Louise will get an email telling her that there's a new post on this thread and she will reply.
Also if you post two more messages on here, you'll be able to send her a Personal Message on the personal message system, which enables you to exchange information that you can't post on here, such as email addresses.
Hope that helps.
Dee :)
-
Thanks a heap Dee. I was wondering how to send a personal message!
-
Post once more, Shippa , and then click on the little green scroll beneath Louise's username. That will open a page on which you can write and send a personal message. Then if she replies, (and hopefully she will), you'll see that you have a message in the top right hand corner of the page in front of you.
Glad to be of help.
Dee :)
