Hi
There was a Henry Walsworth who served on HMS Curacoa during the Crimean War, who was awarded the Crimea Medal with Sebastopol clasp, together with the Turkish Crimea Medal.
I was at the National Archives today and consulted Curacoa's Description Book (ADM 38/7900), this showed that in 1854, when he signed on, he was 20, and he gave his place of birth as Portsmouth. He is described as 5' 6'' tall, of being of fresh complexion, with hazel eyes and brown hair.
He originally volunteered on 31 August 1854 at Portsmouth, where he was rated as an Ordinary Seaman. However, on the 21 September 1854 he was advanced to Carpenters Crew. I suspect this is because he gave his previous occupation as 'shipwright'; I therefore think this is your Henry.
He appears to have been paid off from Curacoa on 9 September 1857 (conduct Fair), but there is a suggestion that he then entered HMS Diadem - this needs to be checked.

I am looking into the Walsworths
I also posted this to another Walsworth Thread http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=154151.0 (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=154151.0) walsworth family portsmouth
I am very new to this please so forgive any lapses in protocol
I am Simon, (my father still living in the Portsmouth area). I am the great, great great grandson of of John and Jane (b. circa 1800)
Particularly interested in Ivor Clifton Walsworth (1909-1978) composer.
In another thread it is mentioned that Henry William (1839-1909 - baptised 1839 but birth date probably more like 1834) served in the Crimean war and was awarded campaign medals. May father has those medals and, when i get a chance, i will photograph them and share with whoever's interested.
I also have quiet a few photos of my family members from my grandparent's generation which i can also share (when i work out how to do it on this site).
Nice to meet you
Simon
