Hi
I have just found my first hint in Cheshire; a lady called Hannah Aloes, born Tarvin around 1795, married in Sunderland to James Laidlaw, a Scot from Roxburghshire. I have no corroborating evidence of her existence. Any information would be most helpful, thank you!

all children of Thomas and Esther christened in Tarvin
Sarah -4th dec 1785
Edward 25th nov 1787
Elizabeth 3rd may 1789
Hannah 18th feb 1795
Peter 30th november 1800
James Aloes christened 30th aug 1801 parents John Aloes and Martha...so at least 2 families named Aloes in Tarvin 1800......
I have to say on a couple of records it is written
Aloes or Hallows.........I think Hallows would be more likely ...1785 ?...maybe the curate wasn`t that good at spelling and wrote it as it sounded - lol
