Hello fellow Rootschatters,
I am wondering what year this photograph is from? I know this man was born in 1881. I can scan the back of the photograph for you if need be, it is a pale blue advertisement for the photographer.
And also, wondering if anyone can help to try and get rid of some of the scratches from the photograph, so as we can see his face a bit more clearly? I have cropped the photo so you have a better size/sharper image to work with. I hope this helps.
I look forward to seeing what you all come up with! :)
Kind regards,
Amy.
Note: I have the date now which I'm happy with. The poor image is still in need of some TLC. Anyone up for it? Thank you. Amy :)

Hi Amy could you scan the back.I am wondering with the flowers in his lapel this was for his marriage,do you know when that was.
-
Right around the turn of the century I'd say, judging by the pose and the props....early first decade-ish.
Cheers,
China

He was married June 14th 1902.
-
I will scan the back now.
-
1902 would fit in with China's date, looks good to me.
-
Here is the back
-
The photographer was at this address 1900 - 1918
-
Wow, how did you find that out?
Yes I think 1902 is right, he looks about 21 in this photo. I wonder if it is from his wedding??
I wish it was a clearer image. If I had photoshop or something I could tidy it up a little.
-
Could well be taken on his way to be married.Change the title to restore or restore and colour if you would like some colour,I'm sure someone will have a go sooner or later. :)
-
Thank you for all your help :)
-
No problem Amy,to change the title just click modify on your first post.

Hi Amy........A try from me.
Carolyn :)
-
Lovely job Carolyn, you can now see how young he is.
-
How fantastic Carolyn!
-
Here's a little head and shoulders from me.
-
Thank you both for your time and efforts, how wonderful :)
-
Design on the back looks just about right for a 1902 wedding....I'd say you've got a date :)
-
Some restoration to each.
Not sure how far you wish to go as the "character" reduces the more you do?
-
Thank you for your efforts! Yes it is a tricky one unfortunately.
-
My go.
