I think Kilteely is in Co. Limerick, near to Pallasgreen... or is there a different Kilteely in Co. Tipperary your Gormans came from ?

Hi
This is my first day of posting.
I have posted a similar post on the Irish part of the site but I am going to try here as well if thats O.K I apologise if I am double dosing
I am looking for ancesters of any information on Michael Gorman born 1880ish in Kilteely Ireland. Iam not sure if the village was in Tipperary oR Limerick at that time. Michael married Catherine Green in that area and had the following children between 1910 and 1925ish Michael Margaret Paddy or Patrick Gerimiah Mae Billy and Billy the Younger who died in Ireland. The Family came to Staffordshire in 1938. Michael and Kate moved to Nantwich in Cheshire Michael died in 1962 and is buried in Nantwich Cemetary as is Kate. I am trying to find Michael 1880s Father and Mother I have an Idea but I link cannot link anything up yet
thanks in advance

There is this family on the 1911 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Limerick/Kilteely/Ballinlough/619844/
Perhaps the names of the relatives might help decide if it's the right family? I don't understand what you mean about Kilteely being in Limerick or Tipperary 'at that time' - is there another Kilteely elsewhere? Do you know the relevant parish name?
PS suggest you link to wherever you posted on the Ireland pages.

The town of Kilteely is in Co. Limerick, as far as I know it always has been. The civil parish which covers the town and the surrounding area, also named Kilteely, is entirely in Co. Limerick, but does have a border with Co. Tipperary.
I'm cant find any town or townland named Kilteely in Co. Tipperary..

Hi everyone for giving me some valuable information
The 1911 census refers to our family in Ballinlough I have also found out what Michael was doing in 1901 census but because in 1901 he was working in another household I donot know his father which is the next hurdle to cross
Many thanks

Hello,
I know this was a long time ago but I was just wondering if you found any more information? Margaret Gorman was my great grandmother and we still live in Staffordshire now.
I have found birth documents on all the children of Micahel and Kate (Formerly Healy) so any more information would be great.
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
I have just randomly come across your post. I have your Michael O'Gorman and Catherine Healy in my tree. My uncle by marriage was Eamon O'Gorman in Limerick and your Michael would have been his grandfathers brother. Happy to share what I have with you.

Tom

Hi Tom,
This is great news, what I have found out is that they lived in Ballinlough, Kilteely in 1911 and moved to Staffordshire, England in 1938 as i have found the census from 1939 with them there. I can't find Michael on the 1901 census, do you know where he lived before he moved to Kilteely area and who his family were?
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,
I do. Michaels parents were Patrick O'Gorman 1856-1931 and Margaret Enright 1852-1927. They lived in Pallasgreen which is not far from Kilteely. They married in 1878 in Pallasgreen & Templebraden Parish. Michael had seven siblings from what I can gather. Catherine Healy on the other had is a bit more of a mystery as I believe (could be incorrect) that she was born out of wedlock. She married Michael on 21 Sep 1907 in Dromkeen. Her father is listed as Darby Healy but I believe this was her grandfather as the 1886 record of her birth has no father listed and her mother is a domestic servant, Hanora Healy.
Do you use Ancestry at all? All of this with recoirds I have on there and happy to share with you.

Tom

That is fantastic, thank you. I did have ancestry a year or so back when i started looking at family history, i used it again this weekend when the England and Ireland records were free and its opened up a lot on the Irish side of the family so I may purchase again. My name on it is just Ben Thomas I believe.
Thanks,
Ben
