As you probably know there are 2 Milton's in Kent. Milton-next-Sittingbourne and Milton-next-Gravesend. I have transcripts for baptisms 1782-1845 at Milton-n-S but can't see any HOOK baptisms there. The registers for Milton-n-G are online at Medway Ancestors on CityArk
http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/query/results/?Mode=Search&PathList=%2FZ4a_Medway_Ancestors%2F%0A&SearchWords=&DateList=

You can search through for a baptism which at that time would be at St. Peter 7 St. Paul's

Whitstable parish records are gradually being put online.  :)

You will have to be patient as they haven't got as far as H yet. :-\

Hello and Happy New Year!

There are 3 Miltons in Kent.  The Milton missing from the earlier posts of that of Milton-juxta-Canterbury.

If you look at the schedule of parishes and the maps at
http://www.kent-opc.org/maps.html
you will see that Milton near Canterbury is numbered M8 and is positioned with
Harbledown (H6) to the north
Chartham (C14) to the west
Thanington (T4) to the east
Hackington (H1) to the south.

Milton-next-Sittingbourne is modernly referred to as Milton Regis to help distinguish it quickly from the other two parishes of similar name.

Milton near Canterbury is not too far from Whitstable so it might be that this is the Milton to which your fellow referred.
