Can anyone help me locate Charles & Theodosia Allen on the 1841,51 & 61 census or give me a clue what else may have happened to them after their wedding on Sep. 13th 1837 at St Mary's Church, Marylebone. Theodosia was living at 47 Edware Road at the time of the marriage ?
Thanks

What occupation was given?
What was Charles' address?

Do you know how old they were at the time of the marriage or where they were born?

Found the marriage record Charles Allen shoemaker, address Enfield to Theodosia Asbourne. Both of full age.

There is actually a Charles Allen age 30 shoemaker born out of county in Enfield in the 1841 along with Mary.

I have some Allens in the area at the time yours all using St Mary's Church - not a Charles and Theodosia though. I wonder if there is a family connection as the Allens seem to be a large family in Marylebone.
A common middle name with my lot is Kindred or Kendrid - could there be a connection?

The transcription for Theodosia is wrong. Her surname was Osborne and her address at the time was 47 Edgware Road. Whilst Charles was living in Enfield. As Theodosia came from Sible Hedingham, Essex it is always possible Charles came from further afield also. You are correct about the number of Allen's in Marylebone who may or maynot be related to Charles.
Its very unusual not to have any "possibles" on the census. It normally means the people have died or emmigrated. But the fact Theodosia suddenley appears years later makes me think that they are "hidden" in the census somewhere.
I have found out that 47 Edgware Road is now a Deli. and so perhaps was always a shop where Charles ran his Shoemakers from. Can't find any trade directories old enough to help. Also from what I am discovering the Edgware road was still pretty much in the countryside in 1837. I am not local so at a disadvantage trying to piece together all the clues.

So just where was she 'later' and with whom ?

In 1871 she is lodging in Clerkenwell along with Mary Thirwell who was a witness at her wedding.
In 1881 she is lodging in Bishops Stortford. She is listed as 75 by then so we must assume she never made the 1891 census.

Thank you Jennifer thats another piece of the puzzle which I knew nothing of. I now know her baptism, wedding & death but nothing inbetween. £187 in 1889 was a fair sum so once again I'm thing Charles must have had a thriving shoemakers. But where and why can't they be found ?

Will - under £300
Theodosia Green widow of 12a Myddleton Sq died 24/3/1862 left money to Joseph (son)
Looks like her husband could have been John Green.

Interestingly there is a Theodosia Allen age 65, married lodging in Finsbury. She is listed as being born Cogshall, Essex but the next person comes from Sible Hedingham. RG10; Piece: 384; Folio: 23; Page: 39

This goes back a bit to old enquiry. I found some time ago that I have a WIlliam Knight apprenticed to John Simpson of Botchergate (Marchant) Carlisle in 1718. Any use? Also I cannot find your Knight references having trawled through masses of pages.
