Hi folks can anyone help?

ive researched my family tree and gone back as far as abraham steel (steele) born in quarnford 1805 and married elizabeth (betty bestwick) alstonefield in 1829 has anyone got any information on this? think the parish is st peters? im trying to go back further...


any help would be grateful

Both Quarnford & Alstonefield are in Staffordshire so I will ask the moderator to move your post to the Staffordshire board as users there often have access to resources that are not online

The marriage entry will not give you any details of his father as it was pre-1837

These are  the only entries I can find on the IGI.  I don't know Staffordshire so don't know whether Quarnford is near Meerbrook.

From the IGI - it may have been an adult christening

I wonder if Abraham had a brother called Jeremiah

1851 census and also living in Sutton Cheshire (as was Abraham).  All b Cheshire except Jeremiah & Jane

Hi Peter,
   One of my ancestors is a James Steel--born Quarnford,Gradbach area in 1775 he has brothers Abraham,Jeremiah,Isaac and Thomas---i suspect your Abraham is a son of one of these
  they were the sons of Jeremiah Steel and Mary Hudson---married in Prestbury 4/4/1761

yes i believe that abrahams father was thomas and I "think" thomas was married to elizabeth..

you said that thomas parents are Jeremiah Steel and mary hudson how did you find this information? and have you got a link so I can see?
