Title: Kennedy, Fernside
Post by: Canterburynorth on Tuesday 27 December 11 20:28 GMT (UK)
Hello,

I am hoping  someone connected to this family will see this posting.

Patrick Kennedy born c1843, Tipperary Ireland
Eliza Long born          c1847, Tipperary ,Ireland

The couple married 22/9/1866 in Melbourne Australia then arrived in New Zealand sometime after. They had many children including John who was KIA in Egypt in 1918.

Would be so pleased to know alot more about this family, Eliza in particular. Please reply if you are connected :)

Regards
Leandra

Hi Leandra,
Have you downloaded the Victorian Marriage Cert?
What info does it contain?

A 19 yr old Patrick Kennedy arrived on the "Queen Bee" 31 March 1861 in NSW. Place of origin Thusles, County Tipperary, Ireland

Do you also have their NZ Death Certs ?.
If not, you should purchase them when possible as they will provide invaluable info.

Hopefully someone related will find this posting from you in the future and help you out (and save you money!).

Trish :)

Hello Trish,

Thank you for your reply and for the arrival of Patrick into NSW, I have his place of birth as Thurles so it fits.
I do have various certificates for the couple but they are in storage while our house is being repaired, not the marrige cert though. The date of marrige came from a childs death cert.
I am just hoping one day someone from the family will see the posting and get in touch. Eliza Kennedy was my GGG Grandmothers sister.

Regards
Leandra

Hi Leandra
Just reading all posts relating to Kennedys anywhere.
I see you have listed Fernside on your post in search of Patrick and his wife Eliza.
Do you have a link to them living in this area?

Hi there,

I am quite sure Patrick and Eliza lived at Fernside from various documents I have seen such as childrens birth , baptism certs and marrige certs, plus the odd mention in Papers Past.

Cheers

Hi Sarah,

My GGG Granny was Elizas sister, her name was Annie Long and she married Michael Doody. Do you know much about the Long family?

Regards
Leandra

My GG Grandparents had 12 children. 3 of the girls married 3 power boys. One of those girls was my grand fathers mother and another was my grandmothers. They were third cousins. Her older brother died in WW1. Our family has Eliza's and Patrick's original porcelain wedding photo. Do you have Skype. If you want to I could show you the photo. Also it might be easier to take than sending SMS.
