Hi all, i wonder if you can help me once more.
I have a Herbert Kirman b 25 Feb 1880 Fulstow/Louth, in the 3 census up to his marriage in 1909 he has no middle name. but for his birth, marriage and death (1969) he has the middle name of Allison, the same for 1911 census
I can't find him on Freereg to see if i have the right person, his parents are James and Ann Elizabeth Kirman.
My problem starts with a Herbert Kirman (no middle name) going on 4 trips to Canada ect, bet 1924 to 1937 (from FindMyPast) his birth is also 1880.
I can't find out who is the correct Herbert Kirman, :-\ or are they the same.
Any help you can give will be a great help as i'm going round in circles at the mo.
I have his 6 siblings and 2 half siblings, it's just him ive got stuck on.
Thanks so much
Sue.

Sorry if I'm a bit thick, but what is it you are looking for?
You say you have his birth, marriage, death, his parents names, his siblings and have found him on all censuses .....
Is there another birth around that time for another guy with the same name? If not, then it looks as if the Canada trips are him too.

Hi,
No i can only find the one birth and it's for Herbert Allison Kirman, but as i said the census don't use the Allison part, only 1911 and the bmds, but the Canada chap doesn't use the Allison part, so that where the confusion came in.

Very few people put their middle name on the census.
And its not unusual not to always use a middle name for everything.
Are the parents on 1881 census the same as on the birth cert?
Do theother details (like place of birth, occupation) agree on each census? Likewise is an occupation given in the shipping records. Does he travel with family? If so, is that the family you would expect?

He's on all the census with his family, then with his wife in 1911 and on that hes a Grocers Assistant. On the Canada ones he's by him self and a Company Director, so i'm still not sure.
I don't have his birth cert, i was hoping it was on freereg, but no, it's not
Thank's Anyhow

There was a Herbert KIRMAN 31 Works Manager Engineering in Lancs in 1911 - perhaps he was the company director. :)

Hi the last trip to Canada (In Sept 1937) if I have the correct Herbert Kirman, he is with his wife Crissie b c 1886 and daughter Winifred b c 1913, on the original it also states his last address in the UK was c/o Hewett & Co, Regents Street, London.

I think i have 2 separate people on my tree, rolled into one, i'm gona have to reevaluate him,.
I hadn't seen that census, the one i have for 1911 he's moved from Louth to Withern with his wife and is a grocers assistant.
Im right up to 1901 then it all goes wrong and i'll probably never find out, but a Director doesn't sound like one of mine, but then again you never know.
I have his wife as Frances Ada Ashley m 1909.
Thanks all
Happy Xmas

There are several Herbert Kirman's born around that time.
Best to start again with a clean sheet, start with the info that definitely relates to 'your' Herbert.
Maybe that is one of his children who is an ancestor of yours. If so, then look at their birth cert to see who the mother was, and then you will be sure if it is the marriage to Frances Ashby that is correct.
Or maybe you will need to start with an even later generation.
COnfirm each step from as many angels as possible before moving on to the next one.

Thank's everyone, i now don't think the Director guy has anything to do with my tree.
My chap was born at Fulstow, along with his siblings, and was a grocer. If only they had used his middle name in the first 3 census it would have been straight forward, but hey, i guess that's what makes it interesting.
Thanks Again

Just as an added not Herbert's older brother James in 1891 was working for a farmer
George Philips
So he would have lived in at the farm
This is the house/farm I live on today
I'll say "Hi" to him when I go to bed to you ;D
I do have a male ghost in the garden maybe it's him!

Hi Nick,
Thank's for getting in touch, very kind of you. Ive now dismissed the company director, my Herbert Allison is just a grocer in Lincs!
I do have his brother James in the 1891 census (at your house/farm) in my tree, i'm not sure who the dad is for him or his sister Sophia as they were born before their "parents" marriage in 1872, so i think the two are half siblings to Herbert Allison Kirman and the rest of his siblings.
Well when i go the back way to Grimsby from Louth i'll give your/my ghost a wave, but you can keep him with you!!!
Thanks again for the info you've supplied, some i had and some i didn't, thank's.
Sue
