hi,,,can the experts tell me anything about this uniform?
-
Absolutely no idea about the uniform but I was so very struck, as I often am in such photos by the lovely, optimistic look of the chap- totally unaware of what dreadful events lay ahead of him. just breaks your heart.
Might I ask if he survived the Great war?
-
no idea who he is? no idea if 1st or 2nd world war ? i am waiting on a 2nd photo to see if that has any more distinguishing features !

"I am not an expert in this subject but it looks like a WW2 Army Garrison Cap. No stripes on the uniform jacket. Probably a newly enlisted Private. Just had his hair cut!

The Divisional patch on his left sleeve looks like a ww2 one, though so difficult to make out apart from the horizontal bar of a cross, these were sometimes on a cloth shield and usually referred to an army group,
eg 1st army, 8th army etc

My immediate thought was that it's a WW2 uniform.

WW2
Around 1942
He has Arm of service strip on arm, the colour of which would define his corps.
