Title: Civilian Anti-Gas School

Seems to be very little information on-line about this. Was researching my father who appears in the attached photo. Have been told the picture would have been taken in Griffith Barracks in 1939.

Would anybody know anything about this - was it just a precautionary initiative that faded away or was it in place for the duration of the war?

Any information or names of any of the individuals in the photo, would be really appreciated.

Wellington Barracks became the Griffiths in 1923 then in 1990's the irish army sold it to Griffith College

A bulk purchase of gas masks was made by the Irish Government  in 1938/9 in the U.K. following the Munich Agreement These were distributed nationwide. In fact, inthe late 1950s I can recall several at home still in brown cardboard boxes.
Apparently in the Spring of 1940 the Dublin Corporation used various premises in the City to demonstrate /instruct  in A.R.P. work.
I've seen reference in a magazine to a gas van whereby one's gas mask was tested but the details given are slight
