Title: Rose(Rosa) Hight
Post by: Big Guy on Tuesday 13 December 11 21:00 GMT (UK)
Rose Hight, one of a twin, was born 4 Feb 1838 in Broughton Northampton to Samuel and Mary Hight. She married Robert Thompson at Bermondsey(London) in June 1861. Where did she go after this? I have been unable to track her movements after this and wonder did she stay in England or emigrate? Is there anyone with Hight family information who could help me out or offer any suggestions? Cheers, Big Guy.

A quick bit of research would seem to show that it's highly likely that Rose and Robert emigated.

You may already know the following, but just in case ...

According to a Public Member Tree in Ancestry, Rose had two daughters (both born in Broughton) before marrying Robert:

1)  Frances HIGHT (born 1856 in Broughton, and died there in 1864)

2)  Ellen Louisa Hight THOMPSON (born 1858 in Broughton and died 1934 in New Zealand)

Records of Assisted Emigration to Canterbury, NZ for 1872 include Samuel HIGHT (aged 59) and Helen (Ellen?) HIGHT (aged 13), both born in Northamptonshire.  Helen/Ellen married in NZ in 1881.

Additionally, it would seem that Rose's elder brother, David (born 1829 in Broughton), also emigrated as his death is recorded in 1874 in Canterbury, NZ (Source:  RootsConnect Family Tree).

SOME FURTHER INFORMATION:

1871 Census - Broughton, Northamptonshire - in the household of Alfred and Martha (born 1851 in Broughton) JACQUES:
Ellen HIGHT - born 1859 in Kettering, Northants.
Annie Eliz. HIGHT - born 1854 in London, Middx.

Is Annie a third daughter born before Rose's marriage to Robert (which, interestingly, took place in London)?

Have Robert and Rose already emigrated by the 1871 census - the fact that Rose's two surviving daughters are with an uncle and aunt would seem to support this theory.

Thanks for the information you gave. I already have all that information and came to the same conclusion as you and  I have been unable to find anything in the census's after 1861 or a death date. I have looked for emigration details, found nothing, and hoped that others may have known where they went. I thought they may have followed Ellen ( my G/G Mother)and the other Hights that came to NZ but I have found nothing here. It is a brick wall at present.

Have found out that Annie Elizabeth is the daughter of George and Elizabeth Hight, not Rose.
