Hi,
According to two seperate sources your grandmothers maiden name was MISKIMMINS. However I cannot find a Miskimmin/Miskimmins marriage to an O'Neill or a Pollock.
Regards
-
hi, thanks for replying the problem is miskimmin has been spelt so many different ways the marriage of maryann and james is on one site as miskimmings where her maiden name is o'neill.

1911 census of ireland http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie
Miskimmin Grandma and grandchildren Pollock living at 33 Ballhay Donaghadee (Rural)
also Miskimmin living at Ballyvester
it might just be a typing error, or how the census returns were filled in. It might have something to do with who was named as the head of the family at that time.
also came across McGimpsey

Hi Zion
My g-grandma was Ellen Jane Miskimmins who was James Miskimmins sister. Their parents were Hugh Miskimmins & Elizabeth Hastings.
James married Mary Ann O'Neill on 5th Jan 1874 at Newtownards Registry Office. I had come across the same problem O'Neill or Pollock but Newtownards Registry can only find a marriage for Mary Ann O'Neill,so I think Pollock is a mistake on the Morman site.
My cousin and I have been researching the Miskimmins of Donaghadee for years , so if you send me a personal message I can share our research.
Regards Dee

The same family as mentioned in zion's post at the start of the thread?
my great grandmother was maryann miskimmin and great grand father was james miskimmin they lived in ballyvester near donaghadee records list maryann's maiden name as o'neill but on a mormon site they have her as pollock my grand mother martha miskimmin married a robert pollock and my mother said they were cousins this could explain it anyone with any info please
If these records are all for the same couple then could Maryann have been married previously?
-
hi Perry isn't it I haven't received the certificate yet was speaking with the girl in the GRO, so I was thinking the same thing did she marry after James died?? If I find anything out will be in touch couldnt find your email address, but I remember you talking with me before about the same thing

Here's the 1911 census entry with Pollock grandchildren in household of Eliza Miskimmin:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Down/Donaghadee_Rural/Ballyhay/264222
There seems quite an age range between the 3 Pollock children- Robert John (31), Samuel (19) and Mary (16).
Same family in 1901-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Down/Ballycross/Ballyhay/1255674/
Pollock children: Robert Jno (22), James (17), William (15), Samuel (12), Jane (12) and Mary (6).
If James Miskimmin married Maryann O'Neill in 1874 why are these children born c1879 and later called Pollock whilst in the Miskimmin household?
-
HI, I HAVE SEEN THAT AS WELL BUT ON THE 1911 CENSUS IT HAS MY GREATGRAND PARENTS SPELT WRONG IT HAS POLLICK INSTEAD OF POLLOCK MY GRANDFATHER ROBERT POLLOCK DOES NOT APPEAR BECAUSE HE WAS IN THE ARMY AND OVERSEAS AT THE TIME SAME FIRST NAMES BUT TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE IF THEY HAD THE SAME FATHER SEEMS UNLIKELY TO GIVE THEM THE SAME FIRST NAME?
