Hi
Earlier this evening I posted a question about the 1911 census.
I received an e-mail alert that Rutland Belle had replied but it flagged up an error.
The post appears to have vanished, which is fine as I wasn't sure if it was allowable due copyright etc but I just wanted to check in case I needed to thank Rutland Belle? Does anybody know please?
I have in fact solved the first problem with some lateral thinking but would hate to think I'd not thanked anyone.
Cheers

Without knowing what you posted it does say here that posts could be deleted without warning:

Thanks Alan
I'd seen that and that's why I wasn't totally surprised it had gone but when I've seen other postings that are removed, they've had a Mod's note.
Not a problem to me although I thought FindMyPast's exclusive deal had expired hence why other sites are now available.
Anyway, thanks again
:)

Hi Ian,
The first reply to your post did contain copyrighted information.
I and a couple other people posted general comments - and then suddenly the thread vanished. Especially as you did nothing wrong I am surprised the moderator who deleted it did not inform you by PM what had happened.
Surely that one copyright breaching post could have been deleted, not the whole thread. Especially as you clearly stated in your post that you were not hoping for a lookup. You were just looking for tips as to how to search for certain places on the 1911 census.

Thanks very much Alexander, obviously I'm not going as mad as I may have thought :o
Then again??

Yes it was me, new to this forum, and obviously I hadn't read the instructions as I didn't realise that I couldn't post the 1911 info on here.
On another forum that I participate in I could have posted that information..

You can always exchange this kind of information via Personal Message - just click on the person's name and fire away. It was nice of you to try to help anyway Jennifer. ;)

RootsChat's position - under guidance from the management - is that we cannot allow look-ups for the 1911 census either to be requested or offered.
This census is exclusively available online and anyone responding to a request or offering a look-up is technically breaking the terms and conditions of their subscription with whichever provider.
RootsChat has a thread which gives a lot of helpful suggestions about getting the best from the free index:

Any information that the moderators see that cannot possibly be obtained from the free index is likely to be deleted.
Best wishes
