Does anyone know of an unmarried mothers home in Berkshire, or maybe just outside Berkshire in the 1930s please??

Have just seen your recent post re above, whilst you have probably found the information you requested by now I can confirm that Wallingford had a home in the 30's I believe the address was No 1 Wantage Road, Wallingford. Regards Anna :)

Hi Anna,
thank you for the address, do you know anything about the place at all?
:)

Bonjour Markswife, I believe that the un-married section was part of a Hospital, (the address is correct) and have checked my Husbands Birth Certificate as he was born there. When we were tracing his Birth Mother etc I believe we some how found a picture of the place. Hope this helps Anna ;)

To add to the above post, it would appear that the Hospital/Alms House are listed as the Herbert Morrell Memorial Hospital and the Angier Almshouse. These building were demolished in 1929 and then re-built and I believe the Alms Houses were the Home. Cheers Anna :)
