Title: Flanigan's of Hull.
Post by: BantamFirth on Friday 09 December 11 23:31 GMT (UK)
I have traced an ancestor back to Hull and thought i would post in here incase anybody else was tracing these Flanigans and would be able fill in more of the family history or maybe i can fill in their history.  :)

My ancestors parents are;
Patrick (1803-1864) and Ann Flanigan (1811-1872) both born in Ireland and died in Hull.

They had 5 children all born in Ireland.
Patrick b.1837
Michael b.1839
Matthew b.1845
James b.1848
Catherine b.1853

Sometime between 1853 and 1861 the family moved to Hull.

I have only been able to track two of the Flanigans;

Patrick who married Mary Ann (b. 1838 Ireland) They had 6 Children;

William 1863 – Married Mary born (b.1863 Hull) had 7 Children. Mary Ann (b. 1889), Patrick (b.1890), Elizabeth (b.1892), William (b.1894), John (b.1896), Thomas (b.1898) and Frances (b.1900) All born in Hull.
Patrick 1864 – Married Mary (b.1862 Hull)
John (b.1866)
Martin (b.1873)
Elizabeth (b.1875)
James (b.1877)
All born in Hull

and Catherine Flanigan who married George Forster (b.1841 Ireland) in Hull 1870.
in 1881 George passed away and Catherine moved to Bradford, Yorkshire and gave birth to daughter Ann.
in 1893 she married Daniel Campbell (b.1851) in Leeds.  Catherine died in 1917 in Bradford.

On the 1861 census Michael Coane (b.1857 nephew) is marked as living with them. and on the 1871 census Michael and Mary Ann Cohen (b.1854) (Nephew & Niece) are living with Catherine.
I have traced these to 1861 census living with their parents and siblings

Patrick Cone (b.1831 Ireland)
Mary (b.1832 Ireland)
Mary Ann (b.1854 Hull)
Michael (b.1857 Hull)
Thomas (b1859 Hull)

I worked with a Kevin Flanigan who lived in Hull, unfortuneatly he died a couple of years back having just retired at the age of 57, however he has a twin brother.
