Is there an index to Birmingham deaths and cemetery records. I would like to find John Guest dying between 1841 and 1851 . Also, his wife Phillis dies between 1851 and 1861.

England and Wales Death Index- no details other than names, not even date of death
Phillis Guest - Jan, Feb, Mar 1853 Volume 6d page 9
John Guest - Jan, Feb, Mar 1843 Volume 16 page 244
John Guest - Jul, Aug, Sep 1844 Volume 16 page 234

Deaths for that period are on freebmd www.freebmd.org.uk but ages will not be shown so if you find several entries you may have a problem determining the right one
Until you establish when and where he died - you won't know which is the likeliest burial place

Thank you so much. If I send off for these what will they tell me? Also, where do I send off for these?

You can apply online at www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ and it costs £9.25 per cert including postage
The info on a death cert will vary as anybody can report a death so it will depend on the persons personal knowledge of the deceased
Date of death and cause are standard
Place of death
Age of deceased
If a man - it will possibly show his occupation
If a woman - it may show "widow of" or "wife of" unless husband is reporting the death
Name, address and relationship of person reporting the death
Date of registration

I was hoping perhaps it would also show the names of parents and where they were born. Thanks for the help.

That's the beauty of Scottish death certs. Unfortunately - English certs for that period don't show any of that type of info.

Thanks for the info- now I have to then work on John Guest marrying Phillis. I figure they were married around the 1820's. Guest was from Birmingham, and so was Phillis. With an unusual name like Phillis, hopefully thiswon't be too hard. Maybe somone can help me with this.

I found the births of 6 children but no marriage so far

Oh my gosh, you are wonderous!!!!
