An Emily Frances Jones was registered as born at 80 Haddington Road in February 1878.Does anyone have information on the occupancy and or use of this address around this time?
The mother's maiden name was Adelaide Mary Ferrall(or Ferrell or Farrell). If there are any links to this family/name it would be especially useful.
On a slightly different point is there any way of telling which couples are paired in the pages of the Ireland Civil Registration Marriage Index?

80 Haddington Rd. is listed as vacant in Thom's 1879 - I'll check some directories just before and after that date later on...
Number 80 is close to the Northumberland Rd junction.
re your question - there's no way to be certain of the pairings on a page in the marriage index, unless you have some clues that might help from later records.

Many thanks for the prompt reply. The father of Emily Frances was a David Jones, commercial traveller(drapery) from Wales,so perhaps the address was a lodging house at that time.
If there is no other info relating to a possible marriage is it fair to assume that the only option is a speculative purchase of a certificate based on one name?

one name and the date / registration district..
If the marriage took place in Dublin City then you could try the parish records, or if it took place before about 1880 try the extracted records on FamilySearch..

There is a marriage match in Dublin South 1870 David Jones & Adelaide Power

On the irishgenealogy.ie site there is a marriage between David Jones of Wales & Charity Hawkshaw so that one seems to be the correct entry.

Thanks for your search and tip on the website. It is useful to have the record for 1870 eliminated.
The only remaining vague possibility is a record for 2nd quarter 1878 in Ballymahon where David Jones and Margaret Farrell are on the same page though there is no evidence to suggest a link with this locality.
If I am right,David Jones met Adelaide Mary Farrell(or similar)in a drapers shop in Liverpool, though the 1871 census only lists "Miss Farrell".By 1872 they appear to have a child born in Wales(plus two more in 1874 and 1875) before Emily Frances is born in Dublin in 1878.I can find no trace of a marriage in England/Wales nor do I have any idea of Adelaide's other family.
There is the possibility of some link with the family of a Francis and Bridget Farrell in Bangor North Wales.
Thanks again for your interest

The only other reference I can find to this address around this time is the death of a Mary Hopkins aged 85(widow of John Hopkins from Tullow(?)Co. Carlow) in 1876 "at the house of her son in law".I cannot find a Farrell/Hopkins connection that would help.
