Title: Hannah Hackney b1823 Astbury
Post by: hugatree on Wednesday 07 December 11 22:39 GMT (UK)
Challenge for today!

I have exhausted every source to which I have access to identify what happened to Hannah Hackney, daughter of John Hackney and Hannah Simons.  She is on familysearch as  baptised 16 May 1823 Astbury, Cheshire.   She is with the family on the 1841 census at Gibralter Rocks Astbury age 15.  There are lots of brothers and sisters who have been traced forward through the generations but poor Hannah is left alone and forlorn on the tree.   :'(

Please could someone help me tie up this loose end,

Thanks Heather, I did stumble across that one but blowed if I can find them on the 1851 census to prove it, and there are quite a lot of Hannah Hackneys around at that time.  But you have prodded me to go back to that one and look again.

All assistance very gratefully received

According to the 'buried in cheshire'  indexes there is a Hannah Hackney buried at Astbury in 1847. I don't know if she is right person you are looking for as there is no age listed.

hmmm

The 1847 burial of Hannah Hackney is Hannah's mother (my ggg grandmother)

I have found a Hannah Lea visiting on her own in 1851 no sign of hubby or the two girls.  However I did find a Hannah Hancock daughter of Jabez & Martha Hancock and two children Jane and Mary of the right ages.  BUT I can't find a marriage of a Hannah Hancock to a John/James Lee to support this.  Ok didn't stretch the range far enough, have now found Hannah Hancock married to John Lee in 1853, so I think we can discount this version.  So just need to find Hannah & James Lee on the censuses

oh dear, not the person we hoped  :o

I've been sent this by a distant relative:

1849 - JAMES LEE - age 59 - Widower - Labourer –
Of Somerford – Son of The Late James Lee (Labourer).
      HANNAH  HACKNEY - age 60 - Widow – of Congleton –
       Daughter of Thomas Davenport (Labourer).
       17th December 1849.
At St Marys Church, Astbury, Cheshire.  Ref Page 22.

So we start again having discounted the census entries and the marriage entries:  emmigration perhaps?

Are George and Henry twins and Hannah and John twins?

There is a tree on ancestry for Hackney but I think that the person who has done the tree has got muddled with Hannah and harriet on the 1851 census.

Hi Heather

I'm not sure about the twins situation, depending on the censuses and marriage records, it would suggest not, but conceived close to the prior sibling's birth!

there are a number of us trying to build the Hackney tree but we all come up with slightly different versions.  Good that we are doing it independently tho, instead of just using each others' research 'cos we can then check each others.  We are still divided on the twins aspect lol! :-\

If Hannah is the Hanh Hackny on the 1851 census then she didn't marry James Lea in 1849.

Hi,

The burial in 1844 was aged 43 - can't see one that fits.

So here we are a few years down the line and I have run another search hoping that the additional records on-line might throw up an answer.  The only other bit of info I have picked up is a death registration in 1871 at Kingston on Hull.  The birth year is correct so it looks like I'll have to get hold of the death certificate and hope for more clues....
