Hi.
I am looking for any family connected to my Great Grandfather Frederick Miller Lander.Age 35 1911 census. from Worth Matravers. His wife was Alice Jane nee Wellman. Their children are Florence Mary age 11 and My Nan Irene Lilian Rose. m Charles Edward Miller (Ted) from Hursley.
Nan died 1980.
Also does anyone know anything about Kezia or Keziah Lander who died May 3 1871 aged 71. who are her parents/husband She is buried in Langton Matravers. also her daughter Keziah b. 1833.
Regards.
Silver Birch. :)

Welcome to Rootschat, although I'm not quite sure what you are asking for, or what the connection is between Kezia and Frederick.
Are you looking for Frederick's parents or other relations?
Kezia was married to Henry Lander, a stonemason. They appear with their family from the 1841 census onwards. They appear to have had children in East Lulworth (including Radigan, rather than Kezia in 1833) before moving to Sutton in about 1833 where they had two more.
The 1851 census gives Henry's birthplace as Langton and Kesiah's as Tyneham, so she is very likely to have been the Kesiah daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth MILLER, baptised in Sep 1799. Tyneham is now a ghost village having been comandeered by the army in 1943 for a shooting range.

Your great-grandfather was born/registered as Fred Miller Lander in 1876.
1881 Swanage, Dorset RG11/2098
Joseph Lander, 47, stoneminer, b Sutton Weymouth, Dorset
Sarah A Lander, wife, b Worth, Dorset
Job L, 17, son
Hubert L, 15, son
Frank L, 12, son
Fred L, 5, son
Walter L, 3, son
Jessey L, 11m, son all b Worth
Joseph Samuel Lander was one of the children born to Henry and Kezia in Sutton Poyntz (in 1834) so the connection is now made.
I can give you more information when you have confirmed what you want.

Hi Richard.
Thank you so much for your help. I have now found Kezia and Henry in 1841 and 1851 also Samuel Miller's will. Tyneham)
which also gave me a lot of info. So Far.
Any info on anyone in the Family would be appreciated a I know nothing about anyone.
I only really knew who my Nan was, As we were rarely taken to see her.I don't even know her Birth date. My Grandad (Ted Miller) died when I was quite young. I can only remember seeing him twice.
They are both buried at Worth. My Nan had a Baby Pearl I believe I have so far been unable to find anything on her Death.
Best wishes.
Silver Birch. :)

Your grandparents married in 1927. The freebmd.org website has two daughters born in 1928 and 1931 in Wareham where the mother's maiden name is Lander (there is another Miller/Lander marriage at about the same time so you have to be a bit careful with the births). Neither of them has Margaret as a name which is the normal name for people called Pearl (Margaret is the Greek for pearl). You can find the births yourself on the site.
Irene Lander's birth was registered in Mar 1907 (again, see freebmd website here: http://freebmd.org.uk

Hi Silver Birch,
I'm also related to the Lander family, though more distantly through the Miller side. My Nan researched the family quite extensively, let me know if you'd like to exchange any info! Warmest regards, Layla

The 1939 Register contains a number of (YOUR) Lander / Miller names in Wareham & Purbeck.
It WILL be worth your while looking them up.

Hi Ray,
Many thanks, I’ve only come across this site last night.
I have a full(ish) tree with loads of info thanks, I was just offering help to anyone who may have any questions on the Purbeck Landers as my uncles/grandfather/great and Greatx2 grandfathers owned Landers Quarries at Langton Matravers. My grandad started researching 40+ years ago and tracked down a few in US/Canada/Aus/NZ and mum is good friends with SM (hope you can work that one out, not fair to put a name)
I’m sure you have a copy of the Lander genealogy too?
Many thanks again Cuz :-)

I was just doing some research on my family tree that my grandfather (Joseph Horton Lander, 1942) helped me put together, & came across your post.
His father was Thomas Horton Lander, & so on & so forth HAHA.. but, I just wanted to say thank you everyone in this post who helped me put a lot of the pieces together! So cool to think some of you are my cousins :) sending love from the U.S. - K. Lander
