Title: Vashti Sarah Davis
Post by: Perro on Tuesday 06 December 11 22:48 GMT (UK)
I am researching Vashti Sarah Davis who married Thomas Smith 11th Oct 1882 I am struggling to find them before this date and as they were travellers I assume this is not surprising. Its their younger daughter Edith Fanny Smith.

I have seen a birth for Vashti 21 June 1863 mother Fanny father Noah Davis.

Thank you for reading this and does anyone know what the name Vashti means please

As this concerns a separate family, I'm going to split this post off and move it to the Travelling People board for (hopefully!) a better reponse.

PS  Vashti is a Persian name meaning "best"  - it occurs in the book of Esther in the Old Testament.  :)

Hi,
If Vashti went by the name Sarah.
In 1871 there is a Noah, Fanny and Sarah Davis with rest of family in Highworth, Noahs occupation hawker.
RG10  1881/58/13
and in 1881
Fanny, daughter Sarah and same siblings, again in Highworth

Hi!

I wondered if you are still researching this family? I have a copy of Vashti's marriage to Thomas and her baptism. This is part of my wife's family and I have had some luck in tracing them.
Let me know if you are still interested.

Chris
