Seeking information/family connections for marriage of Mary Ann Bell and George Beck, both of Belfast, Mary Ann of Greencastle area. Probably married in 1870's.
They had nine children, at least two, (George & Janet) were born in Belfast, the remaining born in Glasgow, Scotland.
George's mother was Helen Hill.
Mary Ann had a brother, Hans Bell, who had daughters, Maggie and Flora.
Thanks, all, for any help you may provide.

Hi, I was born in Greencastle in 1961. The original St Mary's church in demolished now and only the foundation stone survives. The surrounding graveyard is overgrown but still remains intact. As a child it was a place where my friends and I played. I made my first communion and confirmation in the old church. I live in Australia now and visited Greencastle and the old church last November. Happy memorys. :)

Hi - I have the tree for George Beck back to the early 1600's.
I've been researching the Beck lines in Ireland and their descendants for a long time.
I would gladly exchange any information you might have on George and his descendants for the earlier information.
You mentioned that George's mother was Helen Hill - I have his parents as James Beck and Elizabeth Hamilton.
Janet Hamilton Beck born in 1882 was a continuation of the grandmothers surname.
Also you mentioned there were two children born in Belfast before the family moved to Scotland.
I have the full details for Janet, but I cannot find any George.
Di you know if James Beck and Elizabeth Hamilton moved to Scotland with George and his family, as there is NO death registrations for them in Ireland.
James and Elizabeth must have died after civil registration commenced in Ireland in 1864, as they had a child, Sarah, who was born and died in 1868.
George had 4 other known siblings, and his father James was one of 13 or 14 children.

You mentioned that George's mother was Helen Hill - I have his parents as James Beck and Elizabeth Hamilton.
If George's mother was Hill it's more likely she'll be found under the name of Ellen rather than Helen (more popular form in Scotland).
Unfortunately the OP hasn't been online since 2012.
For reference-
marriage (1850) James Beck & Elizabeth Hamilton- his father William Beck:

Janet Beck born 10 Jan.1882 Belfast district (mother- Bell) according to GRONI's database (doesn't list middle names) but searching from 1880-1892 I didn't find a birth for a son George.
The George Beck who died 29 Nov.1881 Belfast was aged 67 years.

Many thanks Aghadowey - I have the birth and marriage certs. I also could not find any birth for a George Beck, or any other names born to the couple George Beck and Mary Bell.
I was trying to get a response from the original sender 'grindstonedave', as he would appear to be directly related to the family, and would probably want the info I have.
I have all the info for Georges siblings ( four) and his fathers siblings, and back to the original Beck settler in the Donegore area - John Beck, born c 1680's, to a John Beck of Downpatrick born c 1650's - died 1718.

Hi
I have lots of information on the Becks but am unsure if some of it is correct. Although I know for sure that some of them are connected. Ultimately I am following the Becks who came to Aotearoa John Beck 1823 moved to live in Aotearoa from Ballynaskeagh, County Down, Ireland. Him and his wife died in Aotearoa.
John Beck died 13 November 1884 aged 53, Otautau, Otago. Buried Plot 8 Old Cemetery Block XVI Otautau, Southland
Elizabeth Beck (Gillespie) aged 64 died 7 June 1897 of Ballochmyle, Wairio, Otago. Buried Plot 9 Old Cemetery Block XVI Otautau, Southland
The Beck’s originally came from Aachen, Germany and I cannot be absolutely sure that these first three connect with Willem Beck of London.
Peter Beck of Aachen 1445c had one son Peter Beck of Aachen, Germany
Peter Beck married Katherina and had one son Joachim/Abraham Beck 1550c Dutchy of Julich, Germany
Joachim/Abraham Beck (1550c born in the Dutchy of Julich) had one son Willem Becx of London
Willem Becx / Wyllem Becks of London married Margaret Warner born in Ireland and they had three children William Beck, Adam Beck 1630c Bellimacally, Mullaghbrack, Armagh-1699c Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland (m.Margaret Walker c.Robert Beck 1690, Adam Beck 1692, William Beck 1694), John Beck 1650 Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland.
John Beck (1650c) married Elizabeth Strettell (18 June 1655 Mobberley, Cheshire) about 1675 Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland. They had eleven? children: John Beck 1675c-1740c Donaghcloney, County Down, Ireland (m.Martha Darson), Robert Beck of Lisburn and Downpatrick, 1680 Lisburn
If you a Beck pursuer then please advise me about this.
Many thanks

Bronwen - many thanks for your message.
John Beck - I have his home area as Scarva, Co Down, married Elizabeth Gillespie in Bathgate, Scotland on 19 July 1855.
I corresponded with a few others in New Zealand re his descendants - of which there is quite a few.
I have a Bronwyn Leigh Shanks - daughter of Brenda Marie Ward and David Owen Joseph Shanks, would this be you ? Although i have most of the dates for BMD up to about the late 1980's early 1990s, I do not have any place information.
The earlier information you have was from the pamphlets of a Re. William Beck, who conducted most of his research in the 1st world war era, obviously this contains some brilliant research, but also some woefully incorrect data.
John Beck born about 1650 in Armagh - did NOT marry an Elizabeth Strettell, there is no proof of this fact. However there is proof of a Quaker marriage of a John Beck to an Elizabeth Robinson in late 1690's or early 1700' ( I have a copy of it somewhere) and details of the births of 4 of their children, with the same names and in order of birth as in John's will.
The Strettells were only very good business friends of John Beck, in the lined trade.
The seal used on the will of John beck and a Thomas Beck of Belfast can be traced in different forms, to the Becks of Holland.
I am descended from Adam Beck of Kircubbin, Co Down, he is mentioned in several documents including the early muster rolls of 1629/33 for men aged between 18 and 50 yrs of age - must have been born 1579- 1611, he is mentioned in the later 1663 subsidy rolls with a son John, so Adam must have been born 1579 - to 1611, and probably in the early 1600's. John his son born 1613 to 1647 so again probably around the 1630's.
I can find no proof my Adam Beck was related to either John of Armagh or Thomas of Belfast.
The Rev William was using the 4 brother story to make them brothers.
I would welcome any date you would have and would gladly exchange whatever information I have.
