I have found the details below about my grandfather Joseph Quirke.
Name: Joseph Quirke
Registration District: Dublin South
Event Type: Death
Quarter and Year: Oct - Dec 1952
Age: 62 (Estimated Birth Year: 1890)
Volume Number: 2
Page Number: 275
I have checked online, all the graveyards in Eire but can't find him on there. He was RC. I also don't know how to "VIEW" the above details online. Is it possible? I wonder if he might have been cremated but that might have gone against his beliefs. I am not able to get over to Dublin to check other records but this information maybe enough to go on with at the moment? Thanks

You cannot view the details of a death cert online, you have to order a cert from the GRO to see the full details.
See:

Possibly buried in Cork?

Most graveyards are not online so not sure how you checked "all the graveyards in Eire."

Hi bestdriver,
I have been doing a sort of one-name study on the Quirk(e)s of Dublin City as quite a few of them belong to my family.
Can't find a Joseph born close to 1890 just now but note that there is one on the 1901 census who is the grandson of Ellen Geoghegan.
I think this probably makes him the child registered as Timothy Joseph in 1889. Could this be your Joseph? and, if so, is it possible that he was buried under his full name of Timothy Joseph Quirke?
Timothy Joseph Quirke was the son of John Quirke and Jane Geoghegan, born on 26th April 1889 and baptised at St Michael & St John on 6th May 1889. Their address at that time was 9 George's Place and by 1901 they were at 4 Georges Avenue, but Jane and Ellen were both widows.

It may also be useful to know that both Quirk and Quirke forms of the same name may be used within the same family, amd somtimes for the same person.
-
Sorry, I now see from the link provided by Aghadowey that your Quirk(e)s are from Cork City.
-
Thanks everybody. Slowly getting there. Re; Cemeteries in Eire. I use this link..http://www.interment.net/ireland/ and clicked on the first .one. There are a few Quirke names on there but not my grandfather.
-
Joseph's father was John Quirke married to Ellen Sullivan.
-
Hi Dudley. On the 1901 census, John, Ellen and family stayed at Curtis Lane in Cork. Thanks

There really aren't that many cemeteries/graveyards available on that website- and many that are included only have partial transcriptions. Remember that some gravestones might not be legible and also that even more people didn't have a marker for their grave- family too poor to erect one, burial in common ground which doesn't allow markers, etc.
-
Thanks aghadowey I had thought of that, and as he had no immediate family staying with him that might be the case. I wonder if he had a burial through the catholic church. They might have a record of what cemetery they buried him. Will have look at their churches sites. Cheers

The two largest cemeteries operating in the Dublin area at that time were Glasnevin and Dean's Grange, so I'd start with those. Glasnevin has a (pay) website.. see the Dublin Graveyards link mentioned earlier. Except for a few extracts, Deans Grange records are not online.
Do you have some clues that indicate that your Joseph was in Dublin at the time of his death ?

No shane, the info that I have submitted was all that I managed to get. I will try the ones you have suggested either by the net or by post/telephone. I am thinking maybe if the Registration District is Dublin South maybe he did die in Dublin as if outside their area it would maybe be another Registration District. I don't know. Thanks

Hi again,
the details you quoted are those from the index to the death record. Do you have the complete record? Are you sure that the Joseph who died in Dublin is your Joseph?
-
Hi Dudley. Yes the details I have got are correct. My grandfather Joseph returned to Eire in 1931 and stayed there until he died. His DOB is May 1890. I am waiting for the death certificate from the GRO which they say should arrive by Monday. Thanks

If a hospital staff member or unrelated person was the informant on Joseph's death certificate the details may not be accurate (and this is often true when family members are the informant). Death certificates for that period do not list date or place of birth.
