Title: No 3 Indian Base General Hospital Poona

I have a oil painting of a a very attractive lady . The writing on the back reads,PTE M.S.Litten 1373002R.A.M.C  No 3 Indian Base General Hospital Poona. The title of the picture is Muriel.it is signed on the back By I think ,C P Owley I  would like to find out ,Is the lady in the Picture  PTE M.S Litten ,and what year would this painting was painted.

Thanks for the info, It was a great help, it gave me the approx year and maybe in one paragraph there was a mention of a anglo/Indian nurse working there. " I wonder if this nurse was Muriel " I going to try and trace all soldiers and nurses that were there Between 1943 &1945 Wish me luck.

Hi Alambic. My father served in the RAMC during the war and as far as I can establish, he served in Poona and Kohima. I believe he was in Poona from 1942 until 1945. He was mentioned in depatches and I believe he was awarded the Burma Star. He never really talked about the war and I would be extremely grateful to  receive any info as regards his days in India. His name was James"Jimmy "Comrie and he was born 1917 in West Cumbria and died in 1990 . Best wishes and good luck!!    Picamarra.
