I would like to know if there is an internet site for Poplar England. Iknow there is free BDM for the uk.

Just want some help on William Lockwood born around 1810 at Poplar London and died in australia in 1880, no mention of mother or father only that he was an contractor (the father)

15 April 1811 - St Dunstan & All Saints Stepney
William, son of William Lockwood of Poplar. labourer,& Mary
born 28 Feb 1811

A possible brother for William would be David Lockwood, baptised on 5 March 1809at the same church on 5 March b. 7 Feb 1809

Kris, I see on your interests at the bottom of your posts that your Lockwood's are from NSW. Wouldn't William's death certificate give details of his parents? That would provide a starting point.

This holds many records for Tower Hamlets, which will include Poplar.
You could also check the East of London Family History Society. Info and pics on their site
