hi, just wondering if anyone can help me please.
my grandparents, uncle and mother travelled from england to australia on the ss asturias.
i believe they left the uk on 1st september 1951 and travelled to australia via fremantle western australia arriving in melbourne victoria on the 6th october 1951.
their names are colin and edna stocks (grandparents) approx 25 years old
brian stocks (uncle) approx 2 years old
barbara stocks (mother) approx 6months old
does anyone have any information, photos, passenger list, menus etc from this journey.

Their last address as given on the passenger list was 164, Skinnerthorpe Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was an I/S worker, not sure what that is.

grandad was an iron/steel worker in the uk.
do you have a copy of the passenger list?

The selection documents for the STOCKS family are held at the National Archives of Australia (barcode number 7302754). The documents are "Not Yet Examined" which means they are not yet open for viewing, but if you contact them with the references of the barcode and the citation ("NAA: A1877, 05/09/1951 ASTURIAS STOCKS C") they will be able to advise you of the process of having the records opened and copied.
