Hi,
I'm trying to locate the burial place of my relative Israel James Blum. He was murdered and buried in Hoylake church in 1866. I don't know which church it just says in the Bradford Observer he was buried at Hoylake church. I'm assuming there was just one church there at that time? Can you please help?

Thank you so much! That's my relative. Can you please direct me to where you got this info as I'd like to print it for my record. I'm hoping that I could get a photo of his graveyard if possible. (It may have his parents name on it? or it'll be really nice to see his final resting place) How do you suggest I go about finding that?
Thanks again!

Hoose appears to have been a township served by St Bridget C of E church West Kirby. The church had a graveyard. Registers are at Cheshire Record Office. I can't see that anyone has done the MIs for the churchyard so it would be case of wandering around the churchyard looking for a gravestone. There may not be one.
West Kirby is over the water in Cheshire. It might be better to post your request in the Cheshire forum.

Hi
If he was buried in Hoylake then it would probably be Hoylake, Holy Trinity.
Findmypast has the Cheshire Parish Registers images and Israels is there according to the free index. The image might confirm which actual church.
I'm sure that the Holy Trinity burial register or MIs have been published , perhaps if a moderator transferred this to the Cheshire Board someone might be able to help.

Hi,
I'm trying to locate, if possible a picture of my relative Israel James Blum. He was buried in Hoose, Chesire, May, 1866. I think the exact burial place to be in Hoylake, Holy Trinity Church. Could someone please help. I would like to read the inscription on his tombstone, if he has one.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth

I meant a picture of his tombstone. However there are some newspaper articles that says his picture is on another newspaper, but haven't come across it yet...(I hope, I will soon)

The MI's have been done for Holy Trinity, unfortunately there is nothing for Israel Blum.

Thank you, Gail for checking. I'm new to family history, what does MI stand for?

Hi Elizabeth
MI = Monumental Inscription
The headstones for Holy Trinity have been transcribed and the inscriptions recorded. This is done so that should the headstones deteriorate there is a record of what was originally there.

Elizabeth,
Have you seen the article in the Times, dated May 16 1866, Issue 25499 Col. G. It gives details of his movements before his murder and of his identification by friends.

Elizabeth,
There is mention that Paul Bloomfield's original surname was Blum, and that he was suspected of murdering his brother James, follow this link:http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BLOOMFIELD/2011-04/1304123412

Yes, I believe I have read the article and have also correspond with the author of the link you send me. He actually had James, brother Pauls death certificate. Very cool!
I also discovered that Paul was in fact at sea when the murder happened as he landed in Brisbane, Australia, several weeks after James murder. What a relief to learn that his brother did not murder him.
I'm also trying to locate his parents name, it is not on Pauls death certificate. But will keep looking and double checking, passengers list.
Thank you all so much.

The Bradford Observer May 17, 1866
There is a large feature on the incident, at the end it states .
Mr Blum was buried in Hoylake, he was born in Germany and his mothers sister resides in Prussia
-
Given place of birth and name, I suggest he is of Jewish faith and unlikely to be in Hoylake, Holy Trinity.

The burial is in the Cheshire Parish registers transcriptions on Familysearch.org and the image is available in the Cheshire Parish Registers on Findmypast
