Title: Clifton Hampden Look Up - Witchelow

Hi everyone,

I need some help please  ???

Would someone be able to look at the Clifton Hampden records for me please.

I have a William Witchelow (spelling always varies) who married Sarah Gibbons 20 Sep 1755 in Clifton Hampden.  Someone has already very kindly confirmed this for me.

Does this marriage record state his age at the time or occupation, anything?

My problem is I have no idea who he is as he was not born in CH, where did he come from?  I know that there are many Whicheloes scattered across Oxon & Berks and they seem to move around quite a lot.

The nearest one I can find was born 1723 in Englefield, but that would make him 32yrs at time of marriage.  I just feel this is a little old to be getting married especially back then.

From the OFHS transcript:
Both signed with a cross; neither has an age given.

For the baptism of William Witchelow, I suggest you use the OFHS Search Services to have a county-wide search done in their baptism database.  See the left hand menu at www.ofhs.org.uk .
