Title: David & Jean Anderson Taylor - 1841
Post by: Cranburygal on Saturday 19 November 11 15:19 GMT (UK)
Trying to find David Taylor and his wife Jean Anderson Moncrieff Taylor in the 1841 census.  I have information as follows:  They were married 10 Feb 1830 in Perth.  Jean is also referred to as Jane.  Their son, Peter Anderson Taylor was born 12 Oct 1839 in Perth.  David Taylor was a marble cutter.  Another child's name was Lillas.  I have them in 1851, 1861.  Also daughter, Rachel, was born in 1851.  David Taylor died some time before 1869.  The family moved to Ontario, Canada circa 1871.  Any info on the 1841 census and previous years would be appreciated.

Hi, Ive found a David Taylor marble cutter aged 30 b 1811 Perthshire in 1841 with John and Mary Drummond aged 40 and 35 in Millearne Perthshire. Also Janet Taylor aged 25  b 1813 Perthshire with Peter 3 and Lillias (girl) 8 months in Blackford new st Perthshire in 1841. As you probably know the Scottish census doesn't give much information but hope this helps.
  Best wishes Julie ;D

Hi Julie, Thanks for your prompt reply.  I'm surprised that David & Jean (Jane) Taylor are not living together with their children in 1841.  I forgot to mention that a daughter, Catherine born in 1833, was in the 1851 census - Kinnoul Causway - and in the 1861 census. I would think she should be with her mother in 1841.  Jean a/k/a Jane Taylor was never named Janet in any census record up until her death.  But it does appear that David Taylor was living with the Drummond family in 1841 because his occupation as a marble cutter is correct.
  Many thanks, Diane
