Hi taffess,
Could you give us slightly more information please ?
Pels.

are you looking for the 1841 census for William Brown & family who are in St Erth in 1851? Census ref HO107/1917 folio 50 pg 15.
William Brown married Elizabeth Michell 29/5/1830 IGI extracted batch M053411 for Redruth, so there could be a child older than Joseph, but the family isn't obvious in 1841.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. Yes, I am looking for the same William Brown in 1841 as in the 1851 census. I also have the IGI marriage. I had hoped to get the parents names of Elizabeth Michell, but so far no luck. Maybe the 1841 census will give me a clue.

1851 has sister-in-law Mary Ann Michell in the household, born Gwennap like her sister. Best match I've found so far in Gwennap baptisms
Mary Ann Michell bp 26/2/1826 dau of Paul & Catherine
Elizabeth Michell bp 10/9/1807 dau of Paul & Catherine
Elizabeth ages well between census years. 1851 has 42, 1861 has 48

Thanks Osprey for that info. Maybe I can find Paul and Catherine Michell in 1841 with daughter Mary Ann whose first daughter is named Catherine.

Thanks to you all for your replies. It seems the Brown family are missing in 1841. Just had a thought that they maybe in a different county. I'll try that next. Thanks

Hi Kris,
Thank you so much for your reply. I have looked for months for that 1841 ref and found nothing for the Brown family or Mary Ann Michell. My main research is on Mary Ann as I hoped to find her with her parents, but if Paul Michell was her father and died in 1827 I think I will have to stop at 1841. I can't find a marriage ref for MA to get info on her parents. I know she married William Norris (1st child born 1855 Lostwithiel) and died in Swansea 1900. If you have any advice on finding the marriage ref I would be most grateful. I think the family are Wesleyan.

there are parish baptisms for some of the children, so not Wesleyan at that stage

I'm pretty sure this is Benjamin even though it has been transcribed as Morris

I've had a look at the scan of the parish register on the new FamilySearch site, and it does look like Morris on the register, but it's too much of a coincidence as the birth of Benjamin Norris was registered sept qtr 1855 & htere isn't a Benjamin Morris registered.
-
Thanks Osprey for your reply. I do have the birth cert. for Benjamin Norris. The surname on the cert is clear as Norris, so it's strange it shoud be transcribed as Morris.
Mary Ann Norris nee Michell is in St Erith in 1851, but I can't find a marriage ref to William Norris. I'll look under Morris. Their 2nd child Catherine is recorded born Redruth 1858 approx. No ref. found for that birth.
-
you're lookingat the birth cert, I was looking at the baptism, there is no connection between the 2 records. The baptism looks like Morris, hence the transcription, but as I said, too much of a coincidence not be your man.
I've had a quick look through the Redruth baptisms for Catherine, but no sign as yet.
You could check St Erth & Gwennap parish marriages as they're online

Thanks Osprey,
Will check St Erith and Gwennap marriages in hope of getting marriage cert. As to Catherine Norris I do have a death ref. for 1861 Truro. Family living in Probus at that time, but still no birth ref. for Catherine!
-
it's St Erth, no i.
;)

Thanks Osprey,
Can't think where else to look for this marriage cert. Perhaps there isn't one!
