Title: FOULSER Phebe
Post by: houston on Friday 18 November 11 06:26 GMT (UK)
I have a Phebe Foulser  born abt 1803 Married to a John Talbot, Labourer b. abt 1801 on 12/7/1825
Diss Norfolk. So I am assumming the parents came from around the same area
though there is some thought of Irish origins

I can't find a record of Phebe's parents as all I see seems to be different spellings of Foulser or Foulger or Foulson etc.,
Also cant find John Talbots parents

I cant go any further until I am sure if I am on right path so any help and look ups would be gratefully appreciated.

The above are both from Diss Norfolk.

Cheers
Houston

You didn't mention that you had Phebe's father  ;)

FS also has a birth for a Phebe 1806 with a father Robert. I just mention this because I searched for years for a father called John according to a marriage certificate and he had an entirely different name  ::)
However, FS also has a burial for a Phebe about 1824 so it is difficult.

There is an offer re Diss in Norfolk resources:  Diss parish records (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,319061.0.html)

Hello babyboy
Thank you for your response -
He was married at All Saints Church to Phebe Foulser and the All Saints connection with the baptism and the closeness to Diss seems logical to me
Thank you also for the marriage of James and Sarah info - hopefully it will put me back onto the right line.
Can you tell me where you got the information from and if the source would be helpful to me for further research
I tend to get a bit bambooozled with all the similar names so an objective mind sometimes sees things more clearly.

Hi Houston,

Sorry, I forgot to put a date for the marriage, Sarah & James were married in Dec 1796.

Here's the link for where the info came from

http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl

If your John Talbot is the John Talbot who died Diss in 1839 aged 40 then this site has his death and records that he died of Lock Jaw (both legs broken by kick of ma*in a * Horse Chariot. (quite a find as a lot of burial records don't give a reason for death)

This site actually has lots of Norfolk parish records that can be viewed

https://www.familysearch.org/

once on this page scroll down to browse by location and select Europe

scroll down to England, Norfolk Parish Registers 1538-1900

click onto browse through 294,154 images and then select the parish of interest to you.

Happy hunting,

babyboy (on my desktop)

ps The All Saints Church where John & Phebe married was in Norwich.

The All Saints Church where John Talbot was baptised was in Shelfhanger in Diss. (so no connection)

Hi again,

I've just had a look at the marriage for Phebe Talbot to James Read in 1843 on the family search website and it says that her father was recorded as Robert Foulson not John

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NF5Y-M33

There is a baptism for a Phebe Foulger in 1806 with parents Robert & Phebe Foulger (nee Calson) This one looks like it might be you Phebe!!!

Thank you babyboy
That clarifies things somewhat for me - Dont know why but genealogy confuses the hell out of me - maybe trying to get things like the dates in order.

Hi candrjm
Thank you for your input also that has been really helpful - have wondering where her records were.
You guys are really helpful and it is appreciated

Kind regards
Houston
