Seeking information about Edward Yates.
I have information that he was married about 1802 in Liverpool, Lancs, to Elizabeth Collister. According to Fa**** S*** this was at St Pauls Liverpool.
They had 6 children, all baptised at St Peters, Liverpool, between 1804 and 1818
What I am trying to do is find any further information about Edward, and Elizabeth. I have not found them in the 1841 census. They would have been about 65.
Any information would be very gratefully accepted

Thank you for that information, Gortonboy.
Ratcliff, your first reply regarding Betty Yates is a clue to possibly the father of Edward. I have since found a couple of directories which show Edward as a tailor and draper, so it is quite possible that his father was one also. I belive it was a case of son follows father back in those days :o
With that extra bit of information, I will be doing more digging. And that is just on this line.
Too much more and i will not need a plane ticket to get to UK.
Thanks again, both of you.

Thank you for that information. I had the 1841 census information, but only as far as the Cushings were concerned. I had not picked the Yates and Taylors at the same address, so am grateful for that.
Could you advise where you found the death information?
Also would you have any idea where they might have been born? According to the 1851 census, Edwards birthplace was Burton in Lancashire, but at this stage I have found a baptism at Ormskirk, which is quite a distance from Burton

Burton is in Westmorland for the fathers birth

Take a look at this website (need to scroll down the page) for the deaths of Edward and Elizabeth Yates
http://web.archive.org/web/20040914082020/http://www.geocities.com/wrcushing/cushingw.html
The Burial for Edward Yates is on Ancestry parish records. I haven't managed to find any birth information for either Edward or Elizabeth. Most families named their children after their parents and themselves. Have found the births of 6 children: Ann, Henry, Isabella, Elizabeth, Ellen Jane & Ann. Perhaps the children are named after family members?
