Hi Neil and Deb,

Marriage, Dec qtr 1851

In 1861 the above couple were living at Crop/Cross Guns Yard, in Newark on Trent.

Oct 16th 1851
"On the 14th Mr James Hardy to Miss Rebecca Key both of Balderton Gate"
Cross Guns Yard was on Balderton Gate, so they did not move far.

Hi.
Thanks for the info. James Hardy could be a son of my Joseph Hardy who .m Mary Ann Pollard. Joseph's possible parents were Luke Hardy & Winifred Hives who m. 1803 Newark. Joseph was 47 in 1851 meaning he was b. 1804. The only Joseph Hardy that matches is one b. 1804 at Rolleston which is 5 miles from Newark parents Luke & Winifred. No other info yet on Luke & Winifred except Luke's parents could be John Hardy & Elizabeth?.
Cheers,
Gary.

Gary I was actually replying to the first posting on this page. Neil states that their James Hardy was the son of a Robert Hardy from Leicestershire.
To answer You Gary
There is a baptism at Newark, St Mary Magdalene.
21-11-1803 for a Joseph Hardy son of John and Ann
A marriage Newark
17-7-1806 Joseph Hardy and Mary Ann Pollard.
So if as you say the Joseph born Circa 1803 married in 1806 he would have been 3 years old!!
Baptisms Newark
22-4-1814 Henry son of Joseph and Mariann Hardy abode Newark father a weaver.
31-12 1818 Sarah same details father a carpet weaver
3-9-1810 William
23-3-1812 Eliza
30-9-1807 Marianne
13-3-1809 Ann possible burial Newark 27-9-1813 aged 3 years.
There is a Joseph Hardy weaver on Millgate Newark on the 1841 census. With wife Mary he was born abt 1786. Their 20 year old daughter Sarah is with them.
Then 2 possible burials in Newark
20-2-1849 Joseph Hardy age 65

Hi.
I made a mistake with my previous postings for which I apologise.
Joseph Hardy m. Mary Ann Pollard 17/7/1805 at Newark. A Joseph was born there c. 1780 so this could be him. Any help would be fantastic.
Cheers,
Gary.

Marriage Newark, 17-7-1806 ( not 1805 ) Joseph Hardy and Mary Ann Pollard.
8-10-1852 Mary Ann Hardy age 74
I do not have a Joseph Hardy baptised in Newark C 1780.
The burial of Joseph Hardy ,above ,in 1849 states he was aged 65, making his baptism around 1784. On the 1841 census he is listed as being born around 1786, we know the 1841 census was iffy on ages. The only baptism for a Joseph that fits this date range is at Elston, which is also the nearest to Newark.
Birth 15-1-1788 baptised 20-1-1788 Joseph son of Joseph and Jane HARDEY
With a possible marriage for this couple being also at Elston.
2-8-1784 Joseph Hardy and Jane Andrews.
-
Hi.
Thanks very much for that. Elston is part of the Newark Wapentake & only 5 miles from there. Jane Andrews was b.c. 1763 at Elston & Joseph c. 1759 but no idea where.
Cheers,
Gary.

Gary I am sure you can find info on the Woodwards on FreeREG by yourself but if you need help just ask.
Also just put years for bapts as the actual entry you you can find the dates yourself.
Hint;
Elizabeth Woodward 1739 Rolleston
Plus parents possible marriage 1730/31
Best to find all baots though when looking for a marriage as it can be up to 20 years before last child is born.
(or 25 in my case!)
