Hi

Have you looked on the 1911 census - there is an entry for her aged 4 living in Merthyr

The following instructions may help you but there is another Olive Prosser aged 3mths also living in Merthyr so there is a risk of confusing the 2 families

I would strongly recommend you purchase credits and view the correct entry

USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living

Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else

In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district

In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index

Click SEARCH

The 1911 census is strictly pay per view so you will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same surname in the same household

Hi, just read your article on Olive May Prosser.  She was my great aunty.  I have done some research a few years back on Seth James and also John Prosser but only today have got back into it.  I have a photo of Sarah Jane James my Great Grandmother and also a photo of John Prosser's headstone (married to Margaret Prosser).

Hello there!

I've been researching my family tree and I think I'm related to Seth James. Do you guys have any information about him? I've traced him through to 1911 and I've discovered he was a retired green grocer & an army pension. Also from his marriage certificate I know he was in the army and I have found his army record. This is fascinating stuff as I think he would have been in the Second Opium War (or The Arrow War) (1856 - 1860)!

What details do you guys have? If you are on ancestry please do look us up (Mogsy22 and sueliderth62)

Thanks!
Laura and Sue

Hi Sue.  If your Seth James was born on 14th September 1841 at Castle Cary in Somerset it will definitely be the same one has mine. His father was William James and his mother Jane James formerly Laver.  I'm not on Ancestry so can't keep in touch with you that way. My e-mail is fochriw88@msn.com.  I'm also on Face Book.

I recently came across an original document with an official seal in a family members home that has these 3 names on it:
Albert Thomas James
Seth James
Jane Ann (formerly bulson)

I'm thinking about doing our family tree but for now Iwas wondering if someone could (simply) tell me how all 3 of these people were related? Are Seth & Jane married? Is Tom their son? I think one might be my great-great grandfather. One of these names lives on in our family today so I'm very curious! Thanks for the help!

Seth James was married to Jane Ann James (nee Bulson) both born in Burn Castle Cary, Somerset in 1841. Their son Albert Thomas James was born in Pitcomb, Somerset in 1872. I had this information from the 1881 census.  They were living in 26 Martins Row, Fochriw which is the village I still live at. Twenty years later in the 1901 census Seth owned a shop at 4 Railway Terrace in Fochriw with Jane Ann and there was a 12 year old girl living there as a servant and I think it says "cook domestic".  Her name was............. Sarah Bulson.
