Hello,
Update : Just remembered he was sometimes reported in articles as Walter Stuart KING or Stuart Walter KING.
Hoping someone could help me please. I am trying to find the emigration details of a W S KING. Family folklore states he fought in the American Civil War. If he did, then it must have been right at the beginning, as by 1862 he was Australia with his family.
My feelings are he may have gone to USA 1859-1861, and returned to Ireland in 1862.
Unfortunately I do not have a subscription to A*.com, so would be very grateful for a lookup please.
Many thanks for any assistance

Hi
What does the W S stand for and do you have a place/date of birth?

Hi Kevin
W S KING stands for Walter Stewart KING. He was born in Ireland 1825c. Have yet to confirm exactly where, some documentation states Meath, however he was married in Kenmare Kerry.

Hello,Hugh here.I have a Walter stewart king born 1826.Baptised in Kenmare Kerry, have a bit more about him marriage etc, nothing about american civil war.

Hi Hugh,
I have searched COI Kenmare Parish records and his birth is not recorded . Can I ask where you got your information from please. I have his marriage in Kenmare and the birth of his children, also all his Australian details.
The only thing that is frustrating me is this family folklore that he fought in the American Civil War. Blowed if I can find anything to substantiate these claims.
Interested to hear what you have

I found 2 public and 1 private tree. Tree names are Klistoff, Thorne, King. I could send a message on your behalf to the 3 tree owners so they can contact you diredtly; your best chance might be the King tree, having a copy of his obituary stating that he was "through America during the civil war". Let me know.
