Title: John Babcock b. 1747 seeking parents
Post by: sword on Friday 04 November 11 19:27 GMT (UK)
I am looking for the parents of John Babcock, born 1747 in England. John went to the Ramapo region of NJ and NY, USA, located at various times in Bergen Co., NJ and in Orange Co., NY. John's children's names were Catherine, Mary, William, John, Phoebe and Margaret, born in the 1770s. The Loyalist family fled to Canada and the Canadian, Loyalist and North American records have been thoroughly examined as well as those of related known families.
Cheers,
sword

@DORAN54,
Thank you. The family of suspected ancestors was active in Sailing and some died at sea. Most families were related to the one that went to RI, USA and descend from James Babcock b. 1612. 1680 to 1730 saw descendants go to NJ, NY, MA, CT. Joseph was used interchangeably with Josiah and some early records are known to be wrong. It was not unusual for some family members to return to England for months. Often cousins of established families recruited other relatives. Merrough is news and I will check out Robert b. 1610.
Regards.
