Baptism of JOSEPH HOEY of NEWFOUNDLAND on 26 November 1858
Name JOSEPH HOEY
Date of Birth 11 November 1858
Address NEWFOUNDLAND
Father GULIELMO HOEY

This is from Irishgenealogy.ie. Adress is Newfoundland what dose that mean.
I have William Hoey married to Mary Kinsella in Castledermot Co Kildare 1841. They had daughter Anne 1842.
But I cant find this family till Joseph is born 1858. Were they in Canada ?.
Where do I go with this information.

probably Newfoundland street in Dublin ?
which in 1863 was in the civil parish of St. Thomas and consisted of 54 small cottages. It ran between Nixon Street and William Place.

Newfoundland Street would have been very close to the St. Lawrence parish church and there are a number of baptisms (540) and marriages (114) listed on Irish Genealogy with that as address - see : Newfoundland baptisms and marriages (http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/search.jsp?name2=&namefm=&namel=&location=newfound*&dd=&mm=&yy=&submit=Search&sort=date&pageSize=100&diocese=&parish=¢ury=&decade=&exact=&ddB=&ddM=&ddD=&mmB=&mmM=&mmD=&yyB=&yyM=&yyD=&locationB=&locationM=&locationD=&member0=&member1=&member2=&member3=&member4=&member5=&member6=&member7=&member8=&member9=&namef0=&namef1=&namef2=&namef3=&namef4=&namef5=&namef6=&namef7=&namef8=&namef9=&namel0=&namel1=&namel2=&namel3=&namel4=&namel5=&namel6=&namel7=&namel8=&namel9=&keyword=) (St.Lawrence RC)
The church is at the junction of Seville Place and Sheriff Street, and Newfoundland street ran parallel to, and just south of Sheriff St.

Hi Shane.
Thanks for that information. So my research is still in Dublin.

do you have Joseph's marriage details already ?
I see a probable marriage for him in St. Mary's, Marlborough Street in 1891..

Yet Shane. Have that.
My problem in William Hoey and Mary Kinsella. I have them on Marriage and birth for Joseph but dont know were there were before his birth or after he Married.
There is a William Hoey married to Mary Kinsella 1841 Castledermot Co Kildare but dont know if is them.
So when I saw Newfoundland I was thinking Canada.
Thanks Again.

Of course, it could possibly mean Newfoundland, which was an independent colony in that time period. If you have no luck in Ireland, try Newfoundland Grand Banks: http://ngb.chebucto.org/.
Or, and this might be a long shot, he might have been born on ship named Newfoundland - address would then be "of the ship the Newfoundland". Could his father have been a sea captain? They sometimes took their families with them on their travels.
