This is the main 'search' page http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
I used the film/fiche search to answer your question :D

Thank you for the link, this will help me with other "which church" queries.
Also the second link that you posted showed a wonderful photo of Brampton Market 1871, my great great grandmother lived in 14 Front Street Brampton which I think is in the area of the market place and I am now trying to match the photo to the present Google map.

I am now trying to match the photo to the present Google map.
Take a look at this 'Old Maps' website http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html
Enter 353078 and 561086 in the two boxes marked 'coordinates', then click 'go'.
This should show you the point from which I think the photo was taken, looking west down Front Street.
You can see old maps of the same area by clicking on the boxes to the right-hand side, titled 'All Available Maps'.
Here's an old photo from 'geograph' looking up towards the spot where the 1871 photo was taken (by the building with the clock tower - the Moot Hall) http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2282353

We've had a thread on Brampton churchyard before http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,316576.0.html
JenB ... you may find it convenient to use this format for the Old Maps website www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=353078,561086 :)
I keep an URL in that format in my Bookmarks/Favourites then I can easily edit it fo a new location.

For a whileIi lived in lanercost and the previous thread may involve me but now I'm living in Carlisle so don't get out that way. My point is that the parish church moved from miles out of town (near the modern cemetry) and made from roman wall stone to the centre of town in ????. If it is the thread I'm thinking of, I posted pics of the old church and a grave stone at the new one. bob

I have half a dozen 100 year old plus photos of Front Street (looking east and west). If you would care to PM me with your email address (or anyone else who is interested), I will gladly send you some copies. Can't seem to load attachments otherwise I would post them on the forum.
