The attached picture is of my grandad, and from the cap badge I believe he was in the MGC in WW1
and i'm assuming from the 169 on the badge that hew as in the 169th (3rd London) brigade, which would make sense as he lived in West Ham.
can anyone tell me where i can research more about the mgc and whether what I have assumed is correct

A distant relative of mine also served in the Machine Gun Corps (MGC) and I can confirm that the cap badge concerned IS the MGC. The 2 bars underneath indicate the theatre of operations in which he served, I believe.
