I am searching for Joseph Richard Thompson. Oral history says he came from Birmingham and was a silversmith. He was born @1859. He immigrated to the US @1881. His father might have been John. I have two names for a mother: Sarah Ball and Sarah Howell. Any help would be appreciated.

On the 1900 US census Joseph is married to Lillian and it shows a son, Joseph born in England in Jan 1885.
Joseph states on his naturalization that he arrived July 12, 1885.

Thank you for your help. I hope someone can help unravel this for me.

Will you give us further details form 1900 census?
Where were they? What was the reference?

Right, so Lilly & Joseph B Thompson arrived on the "Servia" 23 Feb 1886 when he was 10 months old.
She was 21 years.

Pauline,
You are good. I found the passenger list that you gave me and Lilly and Joseph (infant) are on it. Evidently, they came to the US after Joseph Thompson, the husband. I am still searching for a marriage of Lilly to Joseph. I don't think Parthania Adelaide Guest is the right one.
