I was wondering if any one could help?
I think my 3rd great grandfather may have been a bigamist, Herbert wardle and his 2nd wife Emma(Ackerly) Wardle show up as married and on their childrens birth certif as married nee Ackerly. Herbert was orginally married to Ellen Norris and shows up on the 1861 & 71 census, with ellen and then 1881 she shows up as a widow and he is remarried. On the 1911 census its says they have been married for 36 yrs making it 1875.
There is a wedding record for Emma Ackerly in 1875 how ever these are the other names on the list -
Chorlton 8c 789
Banning Zillah,
Fraser Alexander Duckworth,
Haslam Abraham.
The strange thing is his first wife and 2 daughter grew up in the same place in withington were some of his children to emma were born?
Hope someone can suggest how I can unravel this tale.
Thanking you in-advance
Shannie

Can't see what happens to Abraham Haslam after 1875. Oddly Abraham gives fathers name Abraham, but is in Chorlton on 1861 census with father James.
