Hello .....
I apologise in advance, for my scant details.....
I am trying to find any information on this family. I have spent days looking on the Passenger lists on Findmypast, with no luck, but we know the family went to Oz, and became Cotton Farmers ?
This is what I know
David John Williams, was born in Flintshire in 1886. He married Elizabeth KELSALL who was born in Staffordshire in 1890. Her parents were Leonard KELSALL and Sarah Ann COTTON
They had children, Irene Williams born 1908 and Elizabeth M Williams born in 1920
I feel that they emigrated about 1923/1924 . I have a photograph of them taken when Elizabeth , looked about three years old , they were living in a tent at the time....from the comments on the back, they were very happy......
This is the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle I am doing !!
Any help grately appreciated

https://www.bdm.qld.gov.au/IndexSearch/mainMenuSubmit.m?main_menu=IndexSearch
This is the QLD BDM index.
It has death of Elizabeth Mabel Williams d. 1960
parents David John and Elizabeth Celsal, which sounds rather like Kelsall
I cannot see a death for Elizabeth (Kelsall) Williams but see what you can find.
If you know the names of David's parents you might be able to find a death for him.....difficult otherwise.

Hi.
1930 Electoral Roll.
Division of Capricornia, Subdivision of Eidsvold.
There is a double entry.
Williams David John, Block 23 Parish of Coppin, Monto, farmer
Williams Elizabeth, Block 23 Parish of Coppin, Monto, Home Duties.
Williams David John, Lagoon Farm, Monal Creek, Monto, farmer.
Williams Elizabeth, Lagoon Farm, Monal Creek, Monto, Home duties.
They may have purchased/leased the land as Block 23 Parish of Coppin then named the property Lagoon Farm, Monal Creek then upgraded the roll!
Still looking at the 1925 roll.
Regards
Gerry

Elizabeth Mabel Williams appears on the Queensland Pupil Index for 1925 at the Bukali State School.
Monal Creek is nearby to Bukali so it looks like the Williams family were in the area in 1925.

WOW !!
Once again, Rootschat has risen to the challenge and won. Thank you
This is definitely the family I am researching, but all I have had to go on is family history, related by two 94 year olds, and a photograph. They will be thrilled with this information. Grandad will be 95 next month, and I will now be able to tell him exactly where all his Aunts and Uncles went, just before, and after WW1. Three family members went to Canada, another to The Cape, and The Williams to Australia.....
It will take me a while to digest all this, but it is lovely, that I can now add this information to the tree, and complete it for next month.
Thank you all again, I am most grateful

http://www.northburnett.qld.gov.au/?id=95
This link is to a number of Community groups in the Monto and surrounding region.
There may be a group on the list which could help with further information on the family as they seem to have been long-term residents, and would have been known to many.
It certainly would be worthwhile making contact I think ;D

Hello Sue.....
Thankyou so much for this link. I will have a look at it straight away.
I must admit, I would like to know what happened to Irene. She must have married after 1934, as I cannot find one before then, and she was still at home in 1930......
It would be lovely to make contact with a descendent, and even better to see a photo of Lagoon Farm, when all we have is one of them outside their tent.
Thank you

Appreciate this thread has been quiet for quite a while. Hoping that JeannieR may see this message as I have information I can provide about the Williams / Kelsall family in Monto. I am a descendant.
Would also love to get any information that can be provided to me, especially any photographs. There was mention of a photo of the family while living in a tent when they arrived in Queensland and were working on the railway construction.
