My great uncle died from his wounds in Flanders in 1917. I have the volume and page number of his registration on the GRO and duly sent for it. However I had a reply back from BMD saying they do not hold these death certificates and would need to apply to the place he died. Can anyone help where I have to write?
Thank you
Christy

You could try the MoD for the form, do you know where he was buried, as the CWGC website will hold details on their site of where?

I'm not sure what you mean by "from BMD", but the GRO online ordering service does cover these records. You need to specify on the certificate order form that it is an Overseas Event. Is that what you tried?

Thanks for the replies. Have exactly where he is buried, been there, so ok with that. Will try the overseas event and MOD.
Appreciate your help.
