Hi,
I'm looking for help tracing my great great grandfather who may have been born in Bethnal Green/Shoreditch. I know he married Ann Embleton in 1873 in Northumberland and lived there until his death. For his marriage, and in the following years' census records (and births of their children) he is called George Edward Albert Wright b.abt 1846 in Bethnal Green. I am having real trouble finding a record of his birth. The only similar birth I can find is that of a George Edmund Albert Wright b.1843, baptised Shoreditch, London. Can anyone connect the two for me? I would like to know if they are one and the same person and if Edward/Edmund has become muddled along the way. The furthest back I have found him is 1871 living in Northumberland with the Morton family, aged 25, a shoemaker. I cannot find him any further back than this. Any help with his parents names would be much appreciated too, especially his mother's maiden name and if he had any siblings.
Many thanks in advance,
Lisa.

Hi Lisa, I wonder if he is the George Wright aged 7 occ Cordwainer b Bethnal Green on the 1851 Census, he has a brother Samuel aged 4 both shown as orphans, living with James and Margaret Walden in Stepney. Census Ref HO107/1544/240/45

Hi, I'm not sure, it may be him. I know George had 9 children with Ann Embleton, one of which was called Robert Samuel, so this may be a possibility if his brother was Samuel.
Many thanks,
Lisa.
