Hi, I'm not sure if I should be asking this on Rootschat, as it isn't really a family history thing, but a family member has asked me if I remember the Moonlight Bar/Disco, in the Market Place, Grimsby, around 1972.
Any help from the local Grimbariuns appreciated. I am local myself, but do not remember it.

I'm in Grimsby but the name doesnt sound familiar at all. Can your family member remember exactly where it was ?

Hi, my family member said he thinks it was on a corner in the Grimsby Old Market Place. He said possibly near the station?

Hi Diana
The Yarborough Vaults used to be on the right hand side of the station approach, The Yarborough Hotel is on the other side but that was derelict for years until it was restored in the late 1980s so dont think there was any pubs in there. On the opposite side used to be the Exchange pub and that had a disco upstairs dont know if that could've been it, I was only 10 in 1972 so didnt start going out to pubs till a few years later ;D

Hi, It could be the one above the Exchange pub, but I am not really sure. Have never heard of it myself, and I was frequenting pubs then!!
Thanks anyway,
Diana

The Moonlight Bar off the Market Place, was upstairs at a well known pub known as the Pestle & Mortar, or the P & M in those days, probably 150 yards from the train station.

Hi,
Thank you very much for that information. I will pass it on to my family member. I am retired, but I couldn't remember where it was, or even heard of it really.
Thanks a lot,
Diana
