Title: Moving to different areas/parishes in Tipperary
Post by: Strawberryvic on Sunday 16 October 11 20:33 BST (UK)
Hi, I am trying to research my great grandparents, Jeremiah Walsh and Ellen (nee Kenneally).  I have located them on the 1911 census as living in Haywood, Clonmel, where Jeremiah was a farm labourer.  I thought I might have found their marriage record, but the record I have states that the marriage took place in the parish of Thurles, which is some distance from Clonmel, so began to wonder if that was the correct marriage.

I then started to look at Kenneallys in the Thurles area (on the assumption that Ellen must have been from that Parish) but seem to be coming up with records from places like Roscrea, Killea, Mien, Dovea, Bohernarude.  How likely is it that someone baptized at St Mary's in Templemore would have lived in these areas?  Also, how likely is it that somone from the Thurles area would end up moving to Clonmel?  I just can't get my head around it, and I don't want to spend time researching the wrong family line!

Hello,

have you looked for them in 1901? They are not in Haywood -no Walsh or Kenneallys.

In 1911, Ellen is 32 yrs old. Ages can often vary but 1901 only has 2 about the right age:
Ellen Kenneally 21 yrs in Barnahown, Ballyporeen with parents Thomas and Hannorah.
Ellen Kenneally 25 yrs in Doon, Clogheen with parents Patrick and Kate. This one is still at home in 1911.

Whilst trying to find other information for you elsewhere on the internet, I noticed that you have  already have a thread running about your family.
It might be best to stay with one thread, otherwise we may search and report that which is already known.

In 1911, Jeremiah is an agricultural labourer, he may have therefore moved for work to the area.
