Thank you for looking for me.
Her maiden name is so difficult to read on her daugthers birth ceritificate that I am only assuming it is McGovern, guessing it is not now. Might try and order the birth certificate of another of her children to see if this helps.

Who did she Marry?
What is one of the Childrens names and DOB/POB.
We might be able to help without you purchasing another Cert.

Trish :)

She married a Patrick Mccormack (sometimes listed as Cormick or Cormack in the censuses just to confuse the issue).
He children were Elizabeth (1830), John (1833), Nicolas (1937), Catherine (1839) and my ancestor Ellen (1842). Ellen's birth certificate has her surname as Cormack.
Ann died in 1882 in West Ham and her name was listed as Mccormack.

Thank you for any help

Hi Cara,
I have tried finding the Marriage with all the resources I have with no luck sorry.
I found them in 1841 under Comack ::)

Hopefully someone else can come up with something for you before you purchase another Cert. Unfortunately that may be your only option.
Personally I would be complaining about the Cert you have and asking for another copy!

I even tried looking in Ireland for a Marriage even though Ann was from Essex. It is possible she was from a Military Family.
IGI has one 1823 to Annam CURRIGAN.
(Just a stab in the dark and not really likely though)

Trish :)

Thankyou for trying.
It is the handwriting on the certificate which is so hard to read. Mainly a sqiggly line!! :'(
I will order another certificate and see if that can confirm the name.

I have some information relating to your question about Ann McGovern which you posted in October 2011. Are you still interested?

I think the person you're looking for is called Ann McGann (not Ann McGovern). She married Patrick McCormack (or Cormack) on 23 May 1830 in St Francis of Assisi RC Church, Grove Crescent Rd, Stratford. I saw the original register in either 1979 or 1980 when I first started looking at family history; however, I can't now remember where I saw it.

You have listed five of their children but there are two more! The youngest was James, born in 1849. I am descended from the eldest, Anthony George McCormack, who was actually born before his parents got married. In the same register I saw his baptismal record for 1 April 1825, giving Patrick and Ann as his parents. I don't know why they hadn't married at this time.

I'd love to exchange more information about descendants. I'm afraid I have never tried to trace Ann's parents because I was originally just interested in the McCormack name.

Let me know what you think.

That is brilliant. I will get together what I have and send over to you in the next few days.
Do you have more on Patrick. I have nothing more than he was born in Ireland.

Thankyou

Cara

I'll do the same, though it might take a little time. No, nothing more on Patrick I'm afraid, although there was an Andrew McCormack living in Plaistow at the same time, with his wife - also Ann (both born in Ireland). Andrew was Anthony George's sponsor at his baptism so I'm guessing he was either Patrick's brother or cousin, but that doesn't take us any further back.

Looking forward to your info.
