Good Evening,
.
I am hoping someone can assist me with searching for information/newspaper article on the closure of the HARRISON Nail and Wire factory at Cookley abt 1892. Joseph HARRISON was the owner, any information appreciated, regards Jason Harrison New South Wales Australia.

Hi There
The only steel/iron works that I can think about of the top of my head at Cookley is/was Steel Stampings. I used to live a few miles from Cookley but have since moved 100 miles away to live in Somerset - however I do spend 3 holidays a year in Worcestershire (where I was born) so will have a look in the history centre to see what I can find out for you. I also have several books written by a Cookley historian so will have a look in my own library first to see what those books may reveal
Keep your fingers crossed
All the very best
Phil

Cheers Phil, I do have some information already from census records about the Ironworks and from Betty Caswells Book about Cookley "Times Past" However I really wanted to find a newspaper article about the closing of the Ironworks to give me some insight into his business and his family life, thanks Jason

Hi Jason
OK will have a look at the Kidderminster Times & Shuttle for you as they should have the info in but I would still recomend you getting in touch with Betty as one of the 2 books I recomended has a lot about Eleanor Harrison in it from info given by one of her relaitives & I think that Betty could possibly give you more detaled information as she is the local Cookley historian
All the very best

Hi Jason
Ive just spent an hour before having my lunch looking through one of the Kidderminster papers but as yet have found no mention of the nail works & may have to put this look up of till my next holiday as I undertook so many that Ive not yet had time to do any of my own research. Personally I think that the best info that you will gain is through Betty Caswell the Cookley historian as she has her finger on the pulse there.
All the very best
Phil
